APE Reading Group

Currently we run an APE Collective reading group in which we discuss philosophical work on animals that impacts philosophy as a whole and philosophical work that focuses on how we should understand animals, our relations to them and their relations to humans and the world generally.  The purpose of the group is not just to consider the specific ideas that feature in given papers but to make ourselves aware of how animals fit within various philosophical theories and problems in order to help us think more broadly when we engage in our own research.

The group is open to Postgraduate students and staff and we also welcome causal attendance if the topic of a given week is of particular interest to you but commitment to a semester's worth of session is too burdensome. The topics we discuss can be from any area of philosophy and specific papers for reading will be dictated by participants. In the past we covered normative ethics, metaethics, metaphysics and philosophy of mind. If you are interested in being kept up to date with what we are doing, please email Marc at
m.g.wilcox@leeds.ac.uk and request to be added to the mailing list for the APE Reading Group.

The APE Collective Reading Group is not currently running.
